All tour members are welcomed at the assemble point (decided in advance)

Upon taking attendance and all being perfect, tour manager and driver shall commence our drive about town along the main streets of Catalonia, the capital of the riches regions in the country.

Start with the water front dominated by twin towers; continue along the Diagonal Avenue, one of the longest tree-lined street in the city; with the houses of Gaudi that grace this stretch of the road.

Then enjoy an hour to enter Gaudi’s bizarre Parc Guell which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Designed and composed to bring the peace and calm that one would expect from a park. The buildings flanking the entrance with fantastically shaped roofs and unusual pinnacle.

The landscape is indeed true flamboyance by Gaudí. Don’t forget the main terrace, surrounded by a long bench in the form of a sea serpent. These benches form a number of enclaves, where Gaudí incorporated many motifs of Catalan nationalism, and elements from religious mysticism and ancient poetry, into it. You have to be here to appreciate its lines, colours and the remarkable uniqueness of it all. (Please pre-book for this ticket when you place your reservation with us, as it is a timed entrance to be purchase well before hand).

Return to the city, we wander into the La Ramblas famous covered market place (actually it is called Mercat de la Boqueria), with lots of flavours and unique food stalls and fresh fruits vendors pushing their wares. We make stop at the beach front for you to stroll along the breezy seaside, taking in the views and the laughter coming from the locals who are having a ball, a dip in the sea, a quick tan in the sun with great appreciation of life in this carefree city. There is also a restaurants galore for your dinner choice. After meal on your own, we check in our hotel.

Day 2 – Full day in Barcelona

After breakfast, our coach goes along the La Ramblas. It is often the distinctive landmark that most tourists identify with the city.

It is the central most boulevard which cuts through the heart of the city centre and is a vibrant and lively promenade filled with Barcelona action at its best. Here time is given for your stroll all the way towards the Santa Maria and Christopher Columbus’s statue by old port.

Next we climb up Montjuïc, in the Jewish quarter that offers hill top panoramic view of Barcelona; take in the views of the bustling city below and the piers where largest ocean cruisers drop the anchors; the panoramic view is breath-taking. Upon descend we pass by the bull ring and of course a stop at the football stadium of Barcelona (any football fan around?).

Our highlight is visiting the old town, dominated by the Cathedral. It is the visit inside Gaudi’s extraordinary masterpiece, the Sagrada Família Basilica, is what we are after. A walk to the iconic church (Please note this is a timed entrance), known as the crown jewel of the many projects by Gaudí. Learn more about the history of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed cathedral.

Inside, admire the opulent ceilings and stained-glass windows while learning about the building’s charismatic creator. Visit the museum to see exhibits on the cathedral’s history and observe original plaster models and design sketches. When you come out, do not forget to check-out the carving of Christ at the top of the gate. The face and eyes will actually follow your direction as you move from left to right, did they say “GOD is always watching?” (Please pre-book for this ticket when you place your reservation with us, as it is a timed entrance to be purchase well before hand).

Day 3 – Barcelona / Monserrat

A morning call for you to get ready for yet another exciting trip 60 km away to the outskirt of Barcelona!

We are visiting Santa Maria de Montserrat, one of Spain’s most important historical sites; on arrival at the foot of the multi-peaked mountain, take in the stunning natural vistas as your coach negotiates and meanders up the mountain.

At Santa Maria de Montserrat, the mountain’s Benedictine abbey, follow your tour manager to explore and discover how the abbey plays an important role in the cultural and spiritual life of Catalonia.

At 12:30 noon, if we are in luck, the boys’ choir will perform for 30 minutes in the chapel. Many visitors are mesmerised by their angelic voices, as if the cherubim and seraphim are about to descend from above, indeed a treat to look out for.

We return to stop at the “Poble Espanyol – Spain in a Nut-shell”, where 117 buildings, each one an original, they represent iconic architectures for all part of the regions and most are converted to artist quarter with loads of handicrafts to browse and enjoy. This former capital of Spain, the highlights of your tour include the Alcazar, looming over the city on its highest hill when we stop for pictures at the look-out point over the river.

It is a fortress outside the city walls that provides detailed history over 1000 years old, from its time as a Roman palace to its role as a military academy during the Spanish Civil War. Stroll into the city walls, admire the Cathedral, construction that started in 1227 under order of the Archbishop Don Rodrigo Jumenéz.

This is a combination of various style of decoration and architecture motif in one building, almost a treat to the eyes. We shall see also the bridge of St Martin with the heavy bell. You shall find the time free in the old section most intriguing and enjoyable. (Please pre-book for this ticket to Cathedral when you place your reservation with us, as it is a timed entrance to be purchase well before hand).

Back in Madrid, it is time to visit the Royal Palace with pre-booked timed ticket. (Please pre-book for this ticket to Cathedral when you place your reservation with us, as it is a timed entrance to be purchase well before hand).

Visit of the palace that is second to Versailles in Paris as well as Schrunbrunn Palace in Vienna, built only in 1738. It is one of the world’s largest and best preserved Royal residence, though unoccupied now by the Royal Family, it is still the seat of the official and government and to host for official visits from dignitaries overseas.

The interior of the palace is notable for its wealth of art and the use of many types of fine materials in the construction and the decoration of its rooms. These include paintings by artists such as Caravaggio, Velázquez and Francisco de Goya. Other collections of great historical and artistic importance preserved in the building include the Royal Armoury of Madrid, Porcelain, Watches, Furniture, and large collection of Silverware.

Copntinue with our city tour on our bus passing by the various shopping and commercial areas of the city, and to admire the fountains of Cibeles not too far from Gran Via. We suggest you to venture to the El Corte Inglis department store on its 9th floor where the food hall is located and especially for the best view of the bustling capital.

Day 7 – Full day in Lisbon

Let us enjoy Lisbon in the best of mood! Spacious public parks with verdant vegetation almost year round and flowers all season making this city a “Garden City”.

Located on the northern shore of the Tagus River, from vantage points the city is backed by hills and facing the Atlantic water, the colourful combination of roof-tiles of different hue and shades, blends extremely beautifully with plants of different green. As we cross the 25th of April Bridge, it does remind us of the similar one that spans across San Francisco bay.

During our serene ride, listen as your tour manager highlights Lisbon’s famous landmarks “the Christ the King monument (Cristo Rei)”. Learn how this shrine, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, was influenced by the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil.

Fondly referred to as the “jewel” of the Manueline style.

This exclusive Portuguese style combines architectural elements from the Gothic and from the Renaissance periods. In 1907 it was declared a National Monument and in 1984 it was classified “Cultural Heritage of all Humanity” by UNESCO. (Please pre-book for this ticket to Cathedral when you place your reservation with us, as it is a timed entrance to be purchase well before hand).

There is no better example of a traditional Portuguese town than Obidos. This charming old town with shops is bound to fascinate any visitors with unique handicrafts. Enjoy a delightful stroll where every corner you turn to, is a picture postcard.

After an hour here, we continue to Fatima, home to 3 shepherds – Lucy, Francisco and Jacinta. These were the three children who had seen the vision of The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared, a total of six times between May 13th and October 13th 1917. She came to the little village of Fatima which had remained faithful to the Catholic Church.

Today, tens of millions of tourists or pilgrims around to world has set foot in the shrine. One could either simply light a candle or devote a lengthy period of meditation.
